Brad Bilyeu is a committed legal advocate with a vision to create a client-centered law firm that stands up for citizens' rights and holds our local, state, and federal government accountable to the people they serve.
For too long the criminal legal system has been a destructive and destabilizing force in our society, especially in Black communities and lower income communities. Brad is ready to help St. Louisans fight back against cash bail, unconstitutional municipal court practices, and aggressive and racist policing. Brad started STL Defense Firm to defend St. Louisans from the destructive elements of the criminal legal system. He works diligently for his clients with the goal of achieving restorative and rehabilitative outcomes.
Brad is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri – St. Louis (B.A. Political Science, magna cum laude) and earned his J.D. from St. Louis University School of Law with a concentration in Criminal Litigation. Brad brings 19 years of creative problem solving and customer service experience from his career as an IT professional to his practice. He also brings experience working within the system to affect change from his time as a Court Support Advocate for The Bail Project and as a law clerk for the Federal Public Defender.
Brad genuinely wants to help make the St. Louis region more equitable and safe for all citizens, not just those with higher income or lower melanin. He is a huge supporter and admirer of the Close the Workhouse Campaign and Action St. Louis. Brad has served on the board of Greenwood Cemetery Preservation Association since 2015 and along with fellow board members was recognized for the progress made in reclaiming the historic and hallowed space from near total ruin.
Brad is licensed to practice in Missouri and is a member of The Missouri Bar.
